MR RINK IS A GREAT SURGEON ,HE CHANGE MY GASTRIC SLEEVE OP ,FROM WHICH I LOST ABOUT 10 STONE ,TO A GATRIC BYPASS.IN 8 WEEKS I LOST ANOTHER 4.5 STONES.SINCE OP I AM NO LONGER USING INSULIN FOR MY TYPE 2 DIABETES,ALSO MY OTHER MEDICATIONS , FOR BLOOD PRESSURE AND OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS ,HAVE EITHER CEASED OR HAVE BEN DRASTICALLY REDUCUDED.THIS IS TO MR RINK PERSONALLY,FROM ME AND MY FAMILY ,WE WISH TO THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS FOR WHAT YOU AND YOUR TEAM AT SHREWSBURY AND TELFORD HOSTPITAL HAVE DONE FOR US ,NOT ONLY ME,I WAS DYING IN THE CHAIR BEFORE I STARTED ON THIS JOURNEY.IF I HAD ONE BIT OF ADVICE TO GIVE TO ANY ONE GOING DOWN THIS ROUTE ,MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY ,BY THAT I MEAN IN THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND AND YOU WILL BE OK .ONCE AGAIN THANKS MR RINK.I AM NOW 60 YEARS OLD ON OUTSIDE ,BUT INSIDE IM 17 ,THANKS,ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE ,WHICH I NOW HAVE.

Mr Rink was asked by another consultant to preform a simple liver byopsy with me. From the first appointment with him I knew that he saw me as a person and not just a patient. His offer to help with my situation came at a time of desperation for myself. The treatment he has given me has not only changed my life for the better but being a single mother of a small child it has changed the life of my daughter. For that I will forever be great full. Mr Rink is a kind, honest, non judgemental doctor with an excellent sense of humour. Anyone who is lucky enough to receive his care will in my opinion receive the best care and treatment possible.

I had Bariatric Surgery after many years struggling with my weight. The impact has been life transforming. I have been treated with respect and dignity and the surgery and after care couldn't have been better. I would highly recommend the team at Royal Shrewsbury.

Mr James Rink, takes his time to explain all of the options available for your care. He clearly gives all the information on the process with a projected timeline of how long each stage takes. The whole team are very supportive and provide excellent care throughout the whole journey. I am very happy with the care I receive from Mr James Rink and his team, it is exemplary. Thank you

Mr Rink is a clinical director, consultant surgeon and clinical lead for Upper-GI and Bariatric surgery working at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. There he provides an emergency general surgical service as well as specialist care.
Following his graduation from Cambridge University Medical School, Mr Rink worked in East Anglia, the South West and on the South Coast. His specialist training was gained in the South-West Deanery, working in hospitals from Truro and Plymouth to Bath, Bristol and Gloucester. Having completed his training in 2011, Mr Rink undertook fellowships in bariatric and specialist upper GI surgery at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester and the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
In addition to his NHS service, Mr Rink offers a specialist private surgical service which encompasses bariatric (weight loss) surgery, including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric balloon. He also offers advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallstone disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux and hiatus hernia, comprehensive general surgical operations including laparoscopic hernia repair (inguinal, ventral and incisional – primary and recurrent).
